Introducing the Grocery Comparison Shopping Mini-Game!

Comparison shopping is a crucial skill every consumer should master, but it can be tricky, especially for younger individuals. Balancing package sizes, quality perceptions, and price tags can make grocery shopping a puzzle. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our new Comparison Shopping mini-game in the Budgeting Game!

How the Comparison Shopping Game Works
This mini-game is part of the Weekend Events, activated when students choose to handle their Household Chores for the week.

It takes them to a grocery store where they need to purchase 3 items from their shopping list. For each item, they’ll see 3 different options, each with a unique price, quantity, and quality score. The goal? To find the best balance between quality, quantity, and price for each item.

Game Scoring
After selecting their 3 items, students head to the checkout to see their score:

  • Quality of Life points: These are earned based on the quality and quantity of the items they selected.
  • Smart Shopper Bonus: Extra bonus points are awarded for selecting the “best value” — the ideal combination of quality, quantity, and price.

Each time students visit the store, some items may go on sale, so the best deal can vary week to week, keeping students engaged and focused!

The Comparison Shopping mini-game is part of our new suite of mini-games, including the Wealth Whiz Quiz, designed to keep students engaged and learning while navigating the budgeting game.

Happy Learning!
