Stock Market Simulations & Financial Literacy Games

About StockTrak

stock market simulation for colleges and universities

Disappointed with lack of any real-world trading experience in his college Investments classes, Stock-Trak’s Founder and CEO Mark T. Brookshire wrote the first virtual trading application designed exclusively for college Investments classes in 1990. This was shortly after graduating from Georgia Tech with a Master’s of Science in Management.

From the original concept of providing university students with the opportunity to simulate managing a portfolio of stocks, options, futures, bonds and mutual funds, Stock-Trak’s product line has expanded to include budgeting simulations, curriculum, and certifications.

Our markets have broadened as well. We now serve the K12, university, corporate, and general public markets through a combination of proprietary web sites (see below) and white label versions. While the name remains StockTrak, our products go beyond stock market simulations. We also excel in broader financial literacy programs for all markets.

Our Markets

Our family of financial education sites has grown to include nearly a dozen proprietary sites each serving a different audience and over 100 client branded sites:

  • Middle and High Schools: Financial literacy curriculum, budgeting games, and stock market games.
  • Colleges and Universities: Fully customizable portfolio simulations, personal budgeting games, trading room software, and campus-wide financial literacy events.
  • Corporations: Fully brandable finanical education and stock games used for employee education, customer acquisition and retention, and community outreach and sponsorships.

Our Virtual Trading Simulation

  • More than “a stock market game,” our platform features trading of U.S. stocks, options, bonds, futures, mutual funds, futures options, forex, cryptos and equities from 50 global exchanges.
  • Allows for complete customization by the professor/instructor/teacher so that the trading dates, commission structure, security types, and other trading parameters can be tailored to meet the class or group objectives.
  • Encourages students to keep a “trade diary” to record their strategies as they make each trade.
  • Permits professors/instructors/teachers to review our built-in curriculum and create a customized “Assignment” that requires their students/users to read certain articles, watch certain videos, and make certain types of trades; each of these activities includes a Pop Quiz at the end to insure student mastery of the concepts being taught.

Our Financial Literacy & Personal Budgeting Games

Our financial literacy platform has at its core a Personal Budgeting Game. Users experience the basics of learning to live on a budget, manage their checking/savings/credit card accounts, pay bills, and deal with life’s unexpected challenges and expenses. This platform also has built in lessons and quizzes.
